Aries Men Explained

Men born in the cardinal fire sign of Aries are usually of medium height or taller. Many of them have a slightly triangular face, vaguely reminiscent of that of a ram, along with somewhat angular features. They have very high energy levels, and most are fit even into their late years. They also tend to have great physical strength, but may acquire stiffness in their joints as they age.

Aries men love to test their mettle with exciting challenges. When they are younger, they may test themselves in various sports, usually ones that need high energy and are competitive like basketball or handball. In the professional arena, Aries men prefer positions of leadership. They may seek roles in the military, politics, or sales. Many choose to start their own business: for rams, the word "entrepreneur" carries an aura of romance and distinction. Aries men often dream of taking a very ordinary type of business and building it into an empire. Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart, was an Aries.

Mars-ruled Aries men prefer to take action instead of wasting time moping around or mulling things over. Even if only on a verbal level, they tend to have a "shoot first, ask questions later" orientation. Think of some of the public skirmishes of famous rams Alec Baldwin, Russell Crowe, Spike Lee and Robert Downey, Jr. Whether through words, imagination or behavior, Aries men feel a visceral connection to the idea of conflict. Arian film director Quentin Tarantino once observed "Violence is one of the most fun things to watch." This Aries preoccupation with action and violence is also visible in the movies of Francis Ford Coppola and the novels of Tom Clancy.

Rams favor direct, straightforward communication. On the positive side, this means most of them find deception and duplicity abhorrent and strive for honesty. On the other hand, their blunt speech may offend others. Also, their uncomplicated style can make them seem unimaginative: think of some of the jokes made about such famous Aries as politician Al Gore and former NFL coach and on-air commentator John Madden.

Many Aries men apply their abundant energy to intellectual pursuits. The French philosopher Rene Descartes had the sun in Aries. Descartes is well-known for the philosophical dictum "I think, therefore I am." Evolutionary biologist Richard Dawkins is another Aries. Dawkins is known both for his book The Selfish Gene and for his humanist atheist beliefs.

Most Aries men see themselves at some level as warriors or knights. In romantic terms, this can have different effects. Some rams constantly seek new "conquests" - think of the liaisons of Steven Tyler or Hugh Hefner. Other Aries men quest for the holy grail of one ideal woman, and once they find her, they stay true. Consider Warren Beatty, who was a famous Hollywood playboy until falling in love with and marrying Annette Bening. An Aries man may also actually prefer that his ideal mate come equipped with a dragon or two for him to slay.
