Psychic FAQ: Do Mediums Use Tarot Cards?

Q: Why do mediums use tarot cards? Shouldn't they be able to communicate with spirits, or the other side without needing a spiritual "tool" like tarot?

A: This is a pretty good question, and to be totally honest with you... it really depends on the psychic or medium that you are speaking of.

Most mediums that I've spoken with or interviewed don't use the tarot, but others do, and I don't see any conflict or anything unusual about it at all.

Here is why:

Different psychics use different tools, techniques and methods to do their work. Many find some expression of creativity or concentration very helpful for achieving a level of intuition they wouldn't have using their ordinary awareness.

George Anderson, for example... the famous medium, is known for drawing rapidly while doing a reading and communicating with spirit.

Other mediums go into a trance state or use meditation to connect. If tarot helps a psychic or intuitive feel more connected, or more in flow... I have no reason to question what sort of method or technique that feel is necessary to get information.

As a quick extra point, believe it or not, MOST highly skilled people in these sorts of areas use some sort of ritual to help them do what they do best. Athletes, musicians, artists and creative people who need to attain a high level of focus use tools as much as technique - be it music, certain body movements or, if you are a professional psychic or medium, something as tried and true as tarot!

Remember, judge the reading on the basis of what comes through - and not what it takes to get there

Other types of tools that are popular with psychics and mediums?

Obviously astrology is a very popular art and science that has it's own set of tools. But lesser known tools that some mediums find very helpful are reading objects, and the energy that they emanate. This is typically referred to as psychometry, and ti's very popular with psychics who do law enforcement style work, as they'll read the energy or emotions associated with an object owned by a missing person, a crime victim or even a suspect.

The beauty of GENUINE psychic ability is that it manifests differently in each and every psychic or medium who does the work! Much like no two artists are exactly alike... no two psychics or mediums are exactly the same either. (and that's what makes seeing someone new so incredibly exciting for me... EVEN after all of these years!)

Are Tarot Cards Accurate? The TRUTH About Tarot (And How to Get the BEST Reading For YOU)

How accurate are tarot card readings? Are the cards themselves special, or "psychic" or imbued with intuitive abilities in of themselves? Or maybe it's the actual reader him or herself that has the psychic skills that brings the cards....and the reading to life? Do you need to be psychic to actually read tarot cards professionally? Or can ANYONE learn how to read the tarot and become psychic.....simply through perseverance and practice? In this article we are going to take a closer look at some common questions and misconceptions about tarot card readings, and try to separate the FACT from the fiction in how a REAL reading works as well. Curious to know more? Continue reading as we take a closer look below!

Are tarot cards themselves psychic?

The truth is, absolutely NOT. As a matter of fact, I like to suggest that the tarot is nothing more than a tool, or a technique for picking up "psychic signals" and helping folks who are sensitive intuit, interpret and ultimately understand the feelings, sensations that arise during a reading.

Does that make sense? If not.....let's try looking at it THIS way:

Everyone has seen or heard of psychic "detectives" or crime solvers, right? Most of the folks who do this professionally, and are well known and respected by law enforcement, will work on missing persons cases, unsolved crimes and often cases that involve small children. What the VAST majority of these types of psychics practice is something called psychometry, which is picking up, reading and interpreting energy from items owned by someone close the case (often the victim... or the missing person, or occasionally, even the suspect).

The idea?

That these items have ENERGY. And that this energy can be read, understood and interpreted to provide guidance about what evidence points in the direction that will help these crimes be solved.

Tarot reading is REALLY the very same thing.

It's a symbolic art, and in some cases.....the readers don't even really need to be "psychic" to be incredibly accurate!

Why?

Because even skeptics will admit that ALL objects are made up of energy. You are. I am. And the desk I am sitting at right now is NOT "solid" at all. It's mostly empty space........and at it's most elemental level, it's all atoms and molecules and strings all "vibrating" at an incredible speed emanating the appearance of being solid!

Sound silly?

It shouldn't... as this is a proven and accepted fact that most science now accepts as true. (and is one of the bedrock principles of quantum physics)

The tarot cards emit an energy, an emotion and a frequency that suggests a DIRECTIONAL "flow" to your life, your decisions and where you are going.

The tarot ALSO is a tool and technique for understanding symbols, images and ARCHETYPES. (which are represented by the individual cards themselves)

Lastly... many tarot card readers ARE in fact highly gifted with psychic sensitivities that most people are not.

When you combine these 3 factors, in an IDEAL situation, you are left with HIGHLY informative, highly accurate and quite amazing readings... even if you don't necessarily completely believe in psychic abilities at all.

As a matter of fact, one of the very BEST tarot readings I've gotten as a psychic writer, researchers and publisher was by a well known psychologist and psychoanalysts who does NOT believe she is psychic at all. (but DOES believe in karma, and does believe that our unconscious energies and emotions direct the cards in a very specific way)

Does everyone who reads tarot agree with the above?

Absolutely NOT. Some think that much of what I have written above is untrue....and that you MUST be "psychic" to get any intuitive information from the cards at all.

Your best bet if you are curious but NOT convinced?

Find a highly rated, well reviewed and highly recommended tarot reader and get your OWN evidence, and have your OWN experience without needing to believe anything anyone else has to say. There is only so much you can learn from the experiences of others. The key to having your own "a-ha" moment is seeking out your own psychic experiences and having a whole lot of fun along the way!
